Dalal Al-Obaidi: Frogs, Jazz & Blisters

Kuwaiti artist Dalal Al-Obaidi's debut solo exhibition at Taymour Grahne Projects

Dalal Al-Obaidi: Frogs, Jazz & Blisters

Taymour Grahne Projects presents Frogs, Jazz & Blisters, the debut solo exhibition of Kuwaiti artist Dalal Al-Obaidi, on view at the gallery's Alserkal Avenue space in Dubai from 24 September to 10 November 2026, following an opening on 23 September. The exhibition draws the viewer into a life divided between two worlds, London and Kuwait. Having followed a London-based art course remotely, punctuated by frequent trips to the British capital, Al-Obaidi has since returned to Kuwait to process those experiences. This new body of paintings grew from reflecting on what it means to live in two places — 'to be two Dalals' — without ever fully settling into either identity. The title came to the artist one night in London and describes the sensation of 'coming down from a high': the gradual return to the slower rhythm of life in Kuwait. Works such as Phantom, Audience, Next Caller, Duet, Popstar, Pre-Show and the monumental The Forest move between stage and street, crowd and interior, using the body, gesture and spatial tension to explore memory, place and belonging with characteristic sensitivity and restraint.
