Duet

About the work

Duet depicts two figures bound together in performance, echoing the jazz of the exhibition's title. Painted for Frogs, Jazz & Blisters, her debut solo exhibition, the work belongs to a body of paintings about living between London and Kuwait, or 'being two Dalals'. The pairing can be read as a dialogue between the artist's two selves, each improvising in response to the other.
