Mirage

About the work

Mirage conjures a shimmering scene that seems to waver between presence and illusion. Painted for Frogs, Jazz & Blisters, her debut solo exhibition, the work belongs to a body of paintings about living between London and Kuwait, or 'being two Dalals'. Al-Obaidi uses the desert phenomenon as an image for memory itself, vivid yet impossible to hold onto.
