About the work

Pre-Show captures the charged moments before a performance begins, when anticipation fills the room. Painted for Frogs, Jazz & Blisters, her debut solo exhibition, the work belongs to a body of paintings about living between London and Kuwait, or 'being two Dalals'. Al-Obaidi lingers on this in-between state, mirroring her own position between two places and two identities.
