About the work
The largest painting in the exhibition, The Forest is an expansive oil on linen in which figures and landscape merge into a dense, immersive field. Painted for Frogs, Jazz & Blisters, her debut solo exhibition, the work belongs to a body of paintings about living between London and Kuwait, or 'being two Dalals'. The forest becomes a metaphor for disorientation and searching, a place of getting lost before finding one's footing again.
