About this district

Sa'dabad is a vast walled estate at the northern edge of the city, where Tehran runs up into the wooded foothills of the Alborz — three hundred hectares of gardens, streams and forest holding a scattering of former royal palaces, most of them now museums. It is heritage and nature at once: you walk shaded lanes between pavilions, moving from a palace of mirrors to a museum of miniatures to one of fine art. The scale is parkland. The air is cooler than the city below.
