Souq Waqif

Doha's central market, rebuilt on the site of a century-old trading souq on the banks of Wadi Msheireb, and one of the few places in the city where art is encountered rather than visited. Mud-daubed walls, winding alleys, the Art Center among the spice and falcon shops. Against the modernist skyline a few hundred metres away, it reads as an anachronism — deliberately.
