About the work
In this recent drawing, figures nestle within a wild field of blooms, and the title doubles as a statement of the artists' belief in image-making as their most honest form of speech. Part of Tirdad Hashemi and Soufia Erfanian's collaborative Flower series, shown in I Bloom Where You Hold Me at Gallery Isabelle, the drawing builds flowers from loose, gestural oil pastel marks around a scene of care drawn from the artists' own lives; its poetic title comes from their long-standing practice of letter writing.
