About the work
Bu Tarah (2024) is a photographic print that studies a pattern associated with the tarha, the light head covering worn by Emirati women, turning its folds into an image of memory and continuity. Part of Between a Fold and a Memory at Leila Heller Gallery Dubai, the work reflects Al Shomely's research into Islamic geometry and the heritage iconography of Emirati women.
