About the work

A monumental watercolour on paper whose sweeping, layered washes evoke the density and grain of the jute and fabric that Nai often compresses into sculpture. Shown in In Search of Material Within Material at Leila Heller Gallery Dubai, the work reflects Nai's practice of transforming modest, distinctly Indian materials while preserving their history and memory.
