About the work

A watercolour on paper in which Manish Nai builds up translucent layers of pigment into a quiet, textured field, echoing the compressed surfaces of his sculptural work. Shown in In Search of Material Within Material at Leila Heller Gallery Dubai, the work reflects Nai's practice of transforming modest, distinctly Indian materials while preserving their history and memory.
