About the work
An early piece in Kameli's series of speaking birds, this glazed ceramic wagtail is presented on a plinth with an embedded sound element. The work belongs to The Canticle of the Birds, Kameli's reinterpretation of Farid ud-Din Attar's Persian poem in which a flock crosses seven valleys in search of its king. Its modest scale and lively form capture the restless movement of the bird while giving it a voice within the exhibition's chorus.
