About the work
The Mistake (2026) is an acrylic on canvas in which Sharif stages a quiet domestic scene charged with unease. Flattened perspective, saturated colour and carefully placed objects suggest a moment of regret, inviting the viewer to piece together what has just happened. Shown in Allusive Veil, Hisham Sharif's first solo exhibition at Ayyam Gallery and in the UAE, which offers a vulnerable, nuanced portrayal of life through painted interiors that act as emotional landscapes.
