About the work
Behind the Mirror (2025) uses the motif of the mirror to play with reflection, concealment and self-perception — a recurring device in Sharif's interiors, where what is shown and what is hidden are never quite separate. Shown in Allusive Veil, Hisham Sharif's first solo exhibition at Ayyam Gallery and in the UAE, which offers a vulnerable, nuanced portrayal of life through painted interiors that act as emotional landscapes.
