About the work
A ceramic owl presented on a plinth, part of Kameli's chorus of speaking sculptures. In Farid ud-Din Attar's twelfth-century Persian poem The Conference of the Birds, a flock sets out across seven valleys in search of its king; Kameli's installation gives each bird a body and a voice. Here the owl, attached to ruins and hidden treasure, is one of the voices that hesitates before the journey, its excuse emerging as sound from inside the clay body.
