About the work

A watercolour portrait of a myna set within a handmade ceramic frame, linking Kameli's painting to her sculptural work in clay. The work belongs to The Canticle of the Birds, Kameli's reinterpretation of Farid ud-Din Attar's Persian poem in which a flock crosses seven valleys in search of its king. The delicate washes of colour study the bird's plumage and character, offering an intimate counterpart to the sound sculptures in the gallery.
