About the work
A pair of small ceramic sparrows, one pale and one black, shown together on a single plinth as sound sculptures. The work belongs to The Canticle of the Birds, Kameli's reinterpretation of Farid ud-Din Attar's Persian poem in which a flock crosses seven valleys in search of its king. In the poem the sparrow pleads that it is too frail for the journey; Kameli doubles the bird, letting two quiet voices converse about fragility and courage.
