The Fashion Catwalk
A kinetic LED "chandelier" of five choreographed rings above the Fashion Avenue atrium — with a runway that rises from the floor.
The Fashion Avenue atrium — the mall's luxury district and its stage for fashion shows and events — is crowned by The Fashion Catwalk, a kinetic media installation designed by Square Peg Design. Suspended above the atrium are five illuminated rings that can be choreographed together with music and live video: they play as a single unbroken cylindrical screen or split into five independent displays at different levels, functioning at once as a chandelier, a visual landmark and an animated cylindrical billboard. Eight curved two-metre LED screens around the atrium perimeter and a custom sound system extend the show into the whole space.
The theatrical flourish is literal: a fashion runway rises out of the floor of the atrium for shows and events, turning the shopping intersection into a stage. Alongside the aquarium and the Waterfall, the Catwalk is one of the mall's most filmed features — an early, ambitious example of digital signage crossing fully into kinetic public art.
Exhibo editorial
Catch it when the rings are running a sequence rather than idling — they choreograph to music and video, and the effect shifts constantly. Best read from the atrium floor looking up through the stacked rings, or from a balcony across for the full cylinder. If there's an event or fashion show on, the runway rising from the floor is the piece at full theatre.
How to find it
In the Fashion Avenue atrium (the luxury wing) of The Dubai Mall — the suspended ring installation overhead marks the space. View from the atrium floor or a facing balcony.
