Karmouz

An inland district southwest of the centre, holding the largest concentration of ancient sites in the city — Pompey's Pillar standing on the Serapeum's ruins, and the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa cut three levels down into the rock. Dense, ordinary streets, with the classical world underneath them.
