A giclée print is a fine-art inkjet print made with lightfast pigment inks on an archival support, usually cotton rag paper or a prepared canvas, from a high-resolution digital file. The French word giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) entered English around 1991 as a trade name for spray-deposited ink. It does not name a separate printing technology. It describes a quality band inside inkjet: wide colour gamut, controlled colour management, and materials chosen for display life rather than office turnover.

Giclée versus canvas print. Canvas print names the support. The same canvas may receive dye or pigment. Ask for pigment and coating type.
