JD Malat GalleryAbout the work
Arabic letterforms cast in mirrored stainless steel, rising at 210 centimetres — tall enough to look up at, narrow enough to feel like a column of text. The mirror does something interesting here: it pulls the room into the work, reflects the viewer back at themselves, makes the composition shift depending on light and angle and who's standing nearby. Hamzeh's letters have always been about motion — the drip, the gesture, the sense that language is still being written. In mirrored steel, that motion becomes something else: infinite, because the reflection never settles.
