About the work

The largest work in the installation and the one that makes the underlying logic of Hamzeh's practice most visible. Arabic calligraphy has always worked through connection — letters that change shape depending on what they're joined to, meaning that emerges from proximity rather than isolation. Intertwined is that principle at three metres: forms wound around each other, inseparable, the whole impossible to read from a single position. You have to move around it. That's the point.
