About the work
Named for the hotel it was made for, this is the only work in the installation that isn't going anywhere. Site-specific in the most literal sense — it was conceived for this building, for these walls, for the particular quality of light that comes off the marina. Hamzeh has spoken about wanting his work to reach people who weren't looking for art. The Lana is that idea taken to its logical conclusion: a work that exists only where the people are.
