About

The museum’s programme centres on preserving and exhibiting modern and contemporary Arab art to foster regional cultural identity and public education. It supports this mission through temporary exhibitions, academic research initiatives, and community-focused learning programmes backed by its extensive art library.

Sharjah Art Museum opened in April 1997 and operates as a government institution under the Sharjah Museums Authority in the Heart of Sharjah. The three-storey facility houses over 500 artworks focused on modern and contemporary Arab art, complemented by an art library containing more than 4,000 titles. While the museum currently remains temporarily closed until further notice, it traditionally offers free admission, guided tours in Arabic and English, and a robust schedule of temporary exhibitions and educational workshops.
