Curatorial Ethos

Le Violon Bleu Gallery dedicates its programme to showcasing the great names of the Maghreb and broader MENA artistic modernity, tracing regional trajectories and historical connections across Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Exhibitions highlight diverse practices ranging from sensitive abstraction and calligraphy to sculpture, bridging post-independence cultural renewal with contemporary visual languages.

Founded in 2003 by Essia Hamdi, Le Violon Bleu Gallery operates out of a historic space in Sidi Bou Saïd near Tunis, Tunisia. The gallery specialises in modern and contemporary art from the Maghreb and wider MENA region, representing pioneering and established figures such as Farid Belkahia, Aly Ben Salem, Chaïbia Talal, and Najia Mehadji. It maintains a continuous exhibition schedule at its physical location while regularly presenting artists at international fairs including Art Basel Qatar, MENART Fair Paris, and 154 Art Fair Marrakech.
