About this district

Bousher is the inland district on the city's western side, spread below the Hajar foothills — and it holds the single most visited building in Oman: the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. That landmark defines it. The mosque's walled compound of white and red-brown stone, five minarets and vast prayer halls is one of the great works of modern Islamic architecture, and it is the reason to come here. The scale is monumental. The calm inside is total.
