About this district

An upper-middle-class, predominantly Christian district just northeast of the old walled city, bordering Bab Touma, and home to a serious younger-generation gallery. Al-Kasaa (Al-Qassaa) is an early-twentieth-century neighbourhood of solid streets and community institutions, and its art anchor — Dimashq Gallery — combines exhibitions with the archiving and study of Syrian art. This is the district for the research-minded, post-war end of the scene. The register is contemporary and archival.
