Biography
Abdulqader Al Rais (b. 1951, Dubai) is one of the founding figures of modern and contemporary art in the United Arab Emirates. Over more than five decades he has moved from early impressionistic and watercolour depictions of Emirati architecture and landscape to a geometric, spiritual abstraction that draws on Arabic calligraphy and Islamic aesthetics, often marked by his signature square motifs.
