Abdulqader Al Rais: Al Nayed
A major retrospective of a founding figure of Emirati contemporary art
“Al Nayed” is a major retrospective of Abdulqader Al Rais, a pioneer of contemporary art in the UAE whose five-decade career spans the country’s transformation from the Trucial States to a global cultural hub. Tracing his path from early impressionistic views of Emirati architecture and landscape to the geometric, spiritual abstraction of his mature work, the show gathers key pieces from the Alghaf, Calligraphy (Hurufiyya), Impressionism, Alhaa watercolour and Abstract series. Rare works from the artist’s private collection appear alongside new paintings made for the exhibition.
