Curatorial Ethos
The gallery’s curatorial mission centres on presenting authentic Iranian contemporary art that articulates societal tensions and complex cultural messages. Its programme functions as a dedicated platform for emerging Iranian artists under forty, highlighting experimental and conceptually driven practices across diverse media.
Founded in 2008 by Nazila Noebashari, Aaran Gallery operates two locations in Tehran: a primary space on Karimkhan Avenue and Aaran Projects, which opened in 2015 within a mid-town cultural district. The institution maintains a continuous exhibition schedule dedicated to nurturing and promoting progressive Iranian emerging artists aged between 25 and 40. Its programming consistently presents contemporary works that examine Iranian cultural narratives, societal tensions, and evolving artistic practices.
