The Fire Station keeps industrial Doha legible as working studios and bold temporary shows, a bridge between Qatar Museums and the city's emerging artists.
Abutting Al Bidda Park on Mohammed Bin Thani Street, the Fire Station Gallery operated as Doha's civil defence headquarters from 1982 until 2012, when Qatar Museums converted the honeycomb façade building into a contemporary art space. Garage Gallery hosts rotating exhibitions without a permanent collection, while the nine-month Artist in Residence programme supports Qatar-based artists with studio space and curatorial access. Café #999 serves locally sourced dishes, and the courtyard murals of the 100 Days Blockade remain on view beside the Corniche.
