Inspired by a legacy of resistance, Darb 1718 promotes contemporary art and cultural dialogue as tools for social change, fostering community engagement through multidisciplinary programming including workshops, exhibitions, and film screenings.
Darb 1718 is an independent non-profit art space and cultural centre founded by Egyptian artist and cultural activist Moataz Nasr in the historic Fustat district of Cairo. The original venue featured multiple exhibition spaces, a theatre, an outdoor cinema, and gardens, but was controversially demolished in early 2024. Currently, the initiative operates in smaller temporary rented quarters nearby, continuing to offer arts and crafts workshops while maintaining its presence as a cultural hub.
