Marfa' — gallery cover

Curatorial Ethos

The gallery works with local and regional artists to produce and present idea-based projects, aiming to support local artists in building global links while providing a platform in Beirut for international artists. Its programme emphasizes parallel events and publications released with every exhibition to engage contributors and the local audience.

Marfa’ Projects is a commercial gallery located in two garages near the customs house in Beirut’s Marfa’ neighborhood, founded by Joumana Asseily in 2015. The space operates as part of an independent non-profit art scene network and reopened in May 2021 after its original location was destroyed in the August 2020 port explosion. It presents idea-based projects that engage with Beirut’s diverse contemporary art scene through solo and group exhibitions.
