About the work
A domestic pig, painted in meticulous, almost Old Masterly detail, gazes contentedly into the distance. Its title – the German 'lucky pig' – plays on the symbolic baggage animals carry in Western visual culture, which Wilson contrasts elsewhere in the exhibition with its wild cousin, the boar.
