Biography
Elmgreen & Dragset is an artist duo formed in 1995 by Michael Elmgreen (born 1961 in Copenhagen, Denmark) and Ingar Dragset (born 1969 in Trondheim, Norway), who live and work in Berlin. Working across sculpture, installation and performance, they explore the relationship between art, architecture and design, often reworking familiar spaces and everyday objects with subtle humour and critical intent. Their best-known projects include Prada Marfa (2005) in the Texas desert, The Collectors at the Danish and Nordic Pavilions of the 2009 Venice Biennale, Powerless Structures, Fig. 101 (2012) for the Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square, and the exhibition This Is How We Bite Our Tongue at the Whitechapel Gallery (2018).
