Jeu de Paume

Paris

About

The Jeu de Paume is a Paris art centre devoted to modern and contemporary photography and the moving image, set in the north-west corner of the Tuileries Garden by the Place de la Concorde. Its building was put up in 1861 under Napoleon III as a court for jeu de paume, or real tennis, and later became an exhibition venue; from 1947 to 1986 it housed the national museum of Impressionism. Since 2004 it has focused on photography, video, film and online creation, presenting exhibitions in Paris and at the Château de Tours alongside film programmes and talks.
