Biography
Stan Douglas (born 1960) is a Canadian artist based in Vancouver. Since the late 1980s he has made film, photography, theatre and multidisciplinary works that investigate the parameters of their mediums and the role of technology in image-making and in shaping collective memory – works at once specific in their historical and cultural references and broadly accessible. He has shown at Documenta IX, X and XI and at the Venice Biennale in 1990, 2001, 2005 and 2019, and represented Canada at the 2022 Venice Biennale.
