Whitechapel Gallery is a ground-breaking arts institution located in the heart of London’s East End, founded in 1901 by philanthropists Canon Samuel and Henrietta Barnett to present the finest art of the world for local people. The historic building houses nine exhibition spaces, an auditorium, study areas, a specialist bookshop, and a café. It operates as a registered charity supported by public funding from Arts Council England.
