A specialist coin museum in a wind-tower house: metal, mint and the dirham, read case by case in a restored Al Fahidi interior.
The Coins Museum occupies a traditional house in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and is run by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. The building is known for the carved arches and latticework of its liwan, and for a wind tower whose detail sets it apart from its neighbours. After a full refurbishment finished in 2024, coins and notes sit in gilded cases against deep-blue walls, arranged in date order across the former courtyard and the rooms around it, with maps, films and touchscreens. The collection holds more than 470 coins, some from the seventh century, and follows the story of money in the region through to the dirham.
