About

KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art is an exhibition venue for international contemporary art in the former Kindl brewery in Berlin-Neukölln, opened in 2016. Its spaces in the listed 1920s brick expressionist brewery buildings include the 20-metre-high Kesselhaus (boiler house), used for a large site-specific commission each year, the Maschinenhaus galleries M1 and M2 and the M1 VideoSpace. The non-profit centre was founded by the Swiss collectors Salome Grisard and Burkhard Varnholt and has no collection of its own; it also runs a discursive programme, art education and the Café Babette.
