Curatorial Ethos
The gallery aims to develop the contemporary art market with original perspectives by introducing diverse artists from established figures to young talents beyond distinctions of nationality or genre. It focuses on generating foundational currents in Japanese contemporary art while expanding the market through international engagement.
Tomio Koyama Gallery opened in 1996 in Tokyo and currently operates four spaces: Roppongi, Kyobashi (opened November 2024), Tennoz, and Maebashi. The gallery represents a diverse roster of artists including Kishio Suga, Mika Ninagawa, Hiroshi Sugito, Richard Tuttle, and ceramic artists, presenting both solo and group exhibitions. It actively participates in international art fairs to introduce Japanese contemporary art to global audiences.
