Curatorial Ethos
The gallery aims to generate foundational currents for Japanese contemporary art by introducing young domestic talent alongside established figures on a global stage. It seeks to expand the contemporary art market through original perspectives that transcend national and genre boundaries.
Tomio Koyama Gallery opened in 1996 in Tokyo and currently operates four spaces: Roppongi, Tennoz, Maebashi, and Kyobashi (opened November 2024). The gallery represents prominent Japanese and international artists, including Kishio Suga, Mika Ninagawa, Hiroshi Sugito, and Richard Tuttle. It actively participates in international art fairs and publishes exhibition catalogs to support its programming.
