Curatorial Ethos
The gallery introduces Japanese artists domestically and internationally through exhibitions and art fairs, focusing on abstract expressionist works without narrowing down genres. Its programme explores connections between traditional techniques and modern materials, often highlighting dialogues between Eastern and Western artistic contexts.
Contemporary HEIS is a contemporary art gallery established in Tokyo in 2012, located in the Koura Daiichi Building in Nihombashi. The space presents exhibitions of Japanese young artists alongside works from Post-War movements such as Informalism, Neo-Dada, Kyushu-Ha, and Mono-Ha. It operates with a regular schedule open Tuesday to Saturday, hosting solo shows, group exhibitions, and artist talks.
