INSTINC functions as a laboratory for the future of art, prioritizing artistic freedom, process-driven works, and cross-cultural exchange over commercial imperatives. Its mission is to foster an environment where artists take risks and engage in critical dialogue, serving as a catalyst for collaborations and international networks.
Founded in 2004 by artist Yeo Shih Yun, INSTINC is an independent artist-run institution based in Singapore that recently relocated to Tanjong Pagar Distripark. The space operates as a non-commercial platform sustaining contemporary art through exhibitions, curations, and its long-standing Artist-in-Residence program established in 2009. It produces large-scale, multi-sensory projects across diverse media including installation, new media, performance, painting, and sculpture.
