Curatorial Ethos
The institution’s mission is to foster a new era of learning where knowledge is both consumed and actively created through community engagement and interdisciplinary interaction. Its programming focuses on unifying communities, empowering youth, honouring heritage, and supporting the publishing and creative industries through exhibitions, talks, and hands-on educational initiatives.
House of Wisdom is a 12,000-square-metre cultural hub located in Al Juraina 1, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Designed by Foster + Partners and commissioned by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, it serves as the living legacy of Sharjah’s UNESCO World Book Capital 2019 designation. The venue operates under the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and functions as a multidisciplinary space hosting exhibitions, educational programs, public events, and a comprehensive library.
