CYLINDER positions itself as an intermediary between institution and field, contributing to diverse art ecologies by providing a stepping-stone for participating artists to advance their careers while simultaneously making contemporary art more accessible to the general public.
CYLINDER is a neutral and variable art space established in Gwanak-gu, Seoul in November 2020, which expanded to a second location, CYLINDER TWO, in Yongsan-gu in May 2023. The gallery operates as two distinct entities that function together to bridge the gap between institutional and field-based art practices. It presents a year-round programme of exhibitions featuring both emerging and international artists, aiming to lower the threshold for public engagement with contemporary art.
