Curatorial Ethos
CYLINDER positions itself between alternative and commercial art, acting as an intermediary between institution and field to create diverse art ecologies. Its vision is to provide a stepping-stone for participating artists to advance their careers while lowering the threshold for the general public to engage with contemporary art.
CYLINDER is a neutral and variable art space established in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, in November 2020. It operates as a dual-gallery entity, with CYLINDER ONE located at 48 Yangnyeong-ro 1-gil, Gwanak-gu, and CYLINDER TWO opening in May 2023 at 24 Hangang-daero 48-gil, Yongsan-gu. The venue presents a year-round programme of contemporary art exhibitions featuring both local and international artists.
