Temple University Rome Gallery of Art

Curatorial Ethos

The gallery’s mission is to identify, research, and display works by local and international emerging and established artists without preference for style, medium, or format. As a teaching gallery, it focuses on sharing ideas through clear and innovative programming while searching for new solutions among young artists or presenting known artists in new ways.

Established in 1990 as the exhibition space of Temple University Rome, the Gallery of Art is located on the ground floor of the campus at Via di San Sebastianello 16, adjacent to the Spanish Steps. The venue features three rooms with high ceilings and white walls, hosting a year-round programme of exhibitions, performances, concerts, and events for students and the public. It operates as a teaching gallery within an American university campus abroad, maintaining relationships with commercial galleries, Roman art academies, and collectors.
