Curatorial Ethos
The institution functions as a multidisciplinary hub for Belgian academic and artistic exchange, supporting research across fields such as Antiquity while fostering cultural ties between Belgium and Italy through residencies, publications, and public exhibitions.
Inaugurated in 1939 and located at Via Omero 8 in Rome, the Academia Belgica is a residence for Belgian artists and researchers as well as a centre for scientific and cultural activities. The building, designed by Gino Cipriani and Jean Hendrickx-Van den Bosch in a modernist and Art Deco style, houses its own library and serves as an important window on the world for Belgian university personnel. It actively welcomes researchers from all disciplines, including archaeologists and historians, while organizing conferences and exhibitions.
