Curatorial Ethos

The gallery’s programme focuses on promoting and internationalizing Brazilian contemporary art through rigorous curatorial research, solo and group exhibitions, and publications via its in-house press, Nara Roesler Books. It supports both historical and new generations of artists by facilitating their presence in major institutions and private collections worldwide.

Nara Roesler is a leading contemporary art gallery founded in 1976 in Recife and consolidated in São Paulo in 1989, with locations in Rio de Janeiro (opened 2014) and New York (opened 2015). The gallery represents over 50 artists, including established figures like Vik Muniz and Tomie Ohtake alongside emerging talents. It operates as a major commercial platform for Brazilian art on the global stage, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026.
